I only have two large windows in my place that are suitable for plants -- sliding doors, in fact, to my balcony and backyard. The balcony door is north facing and gets pretty much zero light in the winter. Meanwhile the back door faces south, but because I open it multiple times a day for the dog, any plants there over the winter are very unhappy about being constantly blasted by cold dry air (even my gigantic, impossible to kill boston fern grows *slightly less* when I keep if there). So my plants get tucked into some protected (but windowless) nooks and set up with grow lights for the winter.
April means moving them back towards direct sunlight, and hardening them off for a summer outside. My doors are so crowded now 😂 But having all my big tropical plants front and centre/in the way helps curb my spring frenzy for impulse buying more plants.
My fiddle leaf fig fared better this year than previously (notably because it was not anywhere near a cold window/door), but is still looking a little scraggly (it lost a few big leaves in February when I accidentally let the soil get too dry, but it has bounced back and put out two new ones since then). I've moved it to the north window where it won't get fried by direct sun, fertilized it, and did some notching to see if I can encourage some growth on the trunk over the next few weeks. Fingers crossed it is happy and cooperates!

I didn't read a ton the past year, due to a variety of reasons, but did manage to find time for at least a few spectacular pieces of work:
In terms of fanart, I mostly find it through osmosis on tumblr. A few super cool artists I've stumbled across recently however:
papermachette and their Encanto fanart is choice
theradioiscool did a puzzleshipping piece on the fly for one of my fics, and I was floored, but also everything they make is gorgeous and has so much emotion and weight and ahhh
the-stove-is-on-fire I fell hard into danny phantom because of them. no regrets.

In your own space, rec a fanwork (fic, art, vid, playlist, anything!) you did not create.

A Hundred Highways by Cordillera
This is a cybersix continuation (Lucas/Adrian) that was completed this year. It's been decades since I saw the show, and when nostalgia hit and I went looking for more (because 13 episodes has never been enough), this was just the thing I needed. Action packed and emotional and thoughtfully done. In particular I admire the way the author tackled the non-binary nature of C6/Adrian and Lucas' response and respect for it.A Light Down the Well (Illustrated) by TheLongRoadHome
A sidon/link fic for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Holy shit this was intense and epic. I loved the action, the blossoming trust, the way the world and the fallout/aftermath of the Calamity had so much grief and weight. Also, I will always love a mute!Link but I think this is the first one I've read where he's deaf? Excellent. God, everything about his characterization here was like, everything I ever wanted.the ghost of you lingers by drifloon
After an overwhelming binge of Heaven Official's Blessing (I sobbed, and I still have lingering trauma from volume 4), I went on a fanfiction bender, and discovered my newest greatest author crush/goals. Like, every word they write is beautiful and I wish I could channel even a fraction of their talent into my own work! Everything about Hua Cheng and Xie Lian that Drifloon writes hits in the best way, and while I would happily recommend literally anything by them, this one in particular was soft and sad and wonderful.Through Eerie Chaos by MediaWhore
RPF is not where I go, and 1 Direction fic has never been on my radar, but someone on reddit recommended this as a spooky/soft autumn read, and me, being a sucker for any kind of ghost story, gave it a chance. And holy shit, no regrets. I still don't know who Harry Styles is, but this read like an awesome piece of stand-alone fiction. The twist towards the end was like a punch to the face and I was so baffled and caught off guard in the best way, and I loved every second of it.In terms of fanart, I mostly find it through osmosis on tumblr. Alright so, a combined inspiration of
brillando’s annual year in review post, and you know, regular old tumblr hijinks that make fandom people go “hmmm”, I thought I would dust this baby off.
